Cabin in the woods- Spoilers.

Directed by drew Goddard and Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy and director of the hugely successful avengers movie,  this horror/comedy is a far cry from a classic horror or in that case any horror at all. The title gives pretty much the normal horror story away with the not so blunt "twist" given away pretty much straight away. While i liked the obvious hints at other classic horror movie the movie became a bit stale for me pretty much from the start. For me i would have cut out showing the underground bit or subtlety hint at it not just show it all and in a way no real likeable characters are there except for Whedon's use of a angel cast member, Fred, Amy Acker.  Then the two characters left are not at all likeable and there being no logic behind there final choice. The film though is quite funny in places which it does intend to be and seems to get lost in wither its suppose to be a comedy and taking the piss out of horror movies or just a horror. There are some really good parts though and generally genius with the release of the all the nightmare monsters being particular a highlight.
Final verdict - 5 out of ten. Maybe modifying the start of the film but leaving the second half the film would have been a better film and maybe more of a horror and no so torture porn this film could have been the clever horror film it was suppose to be.

sliver linings playbook

Poster= disappointing. Film = No where near disappointing. The story line. Just released from a mental ward pat (bradley cooper) is wanting to see his wife who cheated on him before he went into the mental ward. however due to a restraining order he can't see her and the fact she has moved away. while staying at his parents house he tries to "fix himself" by becoming the person his wife wants him to be.  This beautiful film demonstrates mental health and aspects of dealing with mental health so well yet at the heart of the movie is bradley cooper and Jennifer Lawrence characters growth into something more. Both actors are more than deserving in nominations and Jennifer Lawrence's win in the golden globes is extremely right with her stealing the show with her erratic and emotional performance of a extremely damaged young widow. However the supporting cast is just as dynamic as these too and Robert de Nero as pat's father is a great addition to the cast.

The spending continues.

hi ,
pimark- 15 pound.
Yesterday evening i went to the local shopping centre. Westfield's which is attached to the 2012 olympic village. Me and a friend met and went for food in giraffe. Which i'm pleased to say was lovely. Even if the waitress didn't quite understand what we were saying, The mangers where lovely (we had a 40 per cent off coupon) and the food and drink were amazing. I should have taken pictures but i was too busy catching up. I had the falafel burger and chips and a mango and lime daiquiri which was amazing. we had 50 per cent off these drinks as well which was really good. The only thing thought is that there isn't much variety in the food it seems very restricted in that there isn't a lot on the menu. However my meal and i'm told my friends were really nice.
After the catch up we went shopping and i bought a jumper from primark which is really nice an was only 15 pound.  I'm also going to buy a top from http://olivercashclothing.bigcartel.com  the one with the feathers as i really like it. This also will be my first online shop ever. Hopefully it doesn't take to long to arrive.
Song wise i downloaded for free a mixtape (happy neon) from here http://www.neonhitch.net/splash. its from a artist called neon hitch. Its worth a listen to it. i particularly like born to be remember.
im going home to cardiff this weekend so excited.

tattoos

Hey,
Recently i have had the urge to get a tattoo but deciding to get a tattoo is just as hard as picking a university. It seems that placement is the hard part for me. Even then i want the best tattoo artist to actually do my tattoo as this will be on my skin for life but then if i get what i'm thinking of getting its not to complex. It seems like such a long process of thought and effort just to get a tattoo. I know what i would get... i think i want a number 7 tattooed on me.
The tattoos i've looked at either numerical forms like David Beckham's on his arm which is where i'm thinking of having it.
I dont really like that thought so i'm thinking of having it more like this. Although i would want it a bit bigger.

If i do go ahead with getting a tattoo i have to discuss it with my mother... wish me luck. She hates tattoos. Especially in places were there always going to be visible or i could just get it and get shouted at.
i do think its important to think about having tattoos and discussing them with loved ones as inking your skin is for life, not just a week or two and then washes off in the shower. Childhood tattoos.

Hey ,
I'm not very well so this is going to be a quick blog of my songs of the week.
Tom Odell- after winning brits critic choice award, the only male to win it he has huge shoes to fill in.
Tom odell - Another Love
les misérables- I went and watched the film - it as a movie was bad. The story jumped years with no real telling of what happened in between.I had never watched the show or read the book. i also didnt think it work when they sang all the time. However Anne Hathway as Fantine was amazing. The song- I Dreamed a dream was touching with her acting giving the song real emotion.

The lumineers - ho hey. this song is everyone at the moment. instant catch and a great love letter.
Sleepsong - bastille. This band is up and coming and i particular love the front mans voice. There album is due out early march called bad blood.

Classic 90's

The 90s. Girlbands. Boybands. Alternative rock. R and B. electronic dance music.  Rise of mobile phones. The first mp3 player. Friends. A huge decade of Influence and growth. Here is some songs that i think some up the 90's. As i was born in the 1992. Majority of the songs are from my childhood or i remember them as my mum would listen to them. It seems like a long time ago now and seeing that you can have themed 90s party is a scary though. The 90s were 13 years ago.
Songs-
wannabe- Spice girls
return of the mack- Mark Morrison.

Right here - SWV

Oasis- Champagne supernova
lighthouse family - goodbye heartbreak
bitter sweet symphony - the verve.
friday Im in love. -The cure

while i could add loads more onto this list. Im going to stop as i have work to do. TTFN

shopping - primark

So my love for primark is growing. I bought two new items from there. picture below. Well pleased with the jumper as its quiet similar to the jumper i saw in London collections which is in another of my posts . Didn't go in any other stores as i'm waiting for 20 per cent off in Topman as i'm a student. Theres a really nice blazer i want in there and loads of other stuff but got to wait which is killing me. I'm extremely impatient. So hopefully Topman's 20 per cent will arrive soon. I will post anything i buy up. Hopefully so i can record how much i spend on clothes as some clothes here and there isn't that bad but a lot of clothes buying could leave me a long way down in my overdraft. The perks of being a student.

new year resolution

Weight loss is normally on a lot of peoples new year resolutions. As they have just had christmas and everyone just gives and eats everything in front of them. Then the time to reflect on the year and make "adjustments" for the next year. However like me who never ever sticks to his new year resolution, I this year made them with someone else so they know my resolution and i while i have stuck to some ... the others have completely been destroyed. Eating healthier. Running three times a week. gone. While i know for a fact that i will pick these up later in the year, the worst time for me to want to do this is january when its freezing cold and all you want is to eat and can't go running as its snowing or icy or just can't be bothered to go out in the cold. While i have lost weight as i have cut out a load of junk and alcohol, but this isn't enough in my eyes,  the problem now is that my jeans don't fit which isn't great. But being heathy and happy and not having jeans which fit, seems like a small price to pay. £25.00

The return of Tv shows.

Here is a list of shows which i will be be watching this January.  While some shows are coming to a close or some starting the range of different shows and good quality shows at the moment is welcoming. Spoilers in fringe and arrow if not up to date.

Fringe
This sci-fi cult Tv show is coming to a close with the 2 hour finale on this Friday. If you haven't watched the show before its more like CSI in that the team respond to weird scientific happenings which people have normally died at. However the seasons have a story arc and isn't too complex. The 5 and finale season see the team finally accumulating there plan to destroy the observes hopefully. Prepare for emotion as the brilliant John Noble, as the genius yet damaged Dr. Walter bishop, will surely have a hard time during the finale with the writers killing off loved cast members this season so lets hope they will fill the fringe finale with heart, like they have done with the first few seasons.

The Carrie diaries.
This new show which is a prequel of the sex and the city and follows Carrie thought the high school years of her life. None of the other girls will be included in it. Set in the 80s so expect bad hair and bad clothes. Clothes being a huge part of the original sex and the city. This will either be a great look into the life of Carrie way before big or will leave a good show with a bad spin off. I'm thinking of you Joey.

Arrow
With Arrows Christmas finale giving us a long term in John Barrowman's archer villain there for me has been steady progress in the story with the family of the Oliver Queen being extremely twisted and of course there's the question of what will Oliver do now. Leaving him damaged and battered was an interesting move as it shows us that he is vulnerable and the amount of people on the list still seems to be pretty big. Will he ever kill the whole list. Is what he is doing right?  I do also enjoy the back story element when he shows us what has happened on the island as its a nice change from Oliver just killing people every week which would become boring and predictable.

Girls
Season 2 of girls has started about the life of 4  girls in the 20's. I haven't watched the show yet but Lena Dunham winning at the golden globes has made me interested to watch.

Brick lane famous for. Curry? Vintage stores? Rough trade? Sunday market? Film advertising . The latest in the Brick lane Uniqueness is when wreck-it Ralph the new disney film advertised its new film by putting pixel animals, cars and other video game memorable icons near the rough trade store just off brick lane this past weekend. Pictures below. If you haven't been to brick lane and you live in London or travel to London. Try to arrange to go around 1 on a sunday but make sure you go down the whole street not just the curry houses.  Theres tons of vintage stores. An amazing sunday market and just off the street is Spitalfields market. There is also Rough Trade. This is one of the best places to buy music thats not online. Also right at the end is the legendary bagel shop which is a must when drunk as there salt beef bagels are just too good. But no mustard please.

songs of the week. -14.01.2013

This week there has been a number of musical returns with the return of destiny child with there album of previous songs with a new song and rumours of Beyonce releasing new material soon. Adele coming out of reclusiveness to attend the golden globes and her return to singing, in public, for the oscars. The return of David bowie in a decade with his song Where are we now?  then the return of Justin Timberlake this week with his brand new single suit & tie ( with Jay-z) . At first listen, it seems that he hasn't lost his touch of making a hit.
Suit & Tie - Justin Timberlake.

I am a huge fan of two door cinema club. The album beacon which is there 2nd after tourist history. Is Just as good as there 1st but once the songs have sunk in as there not as catchy as there most famous songs from tourist history but definitely the same quality.
Handshake - Two door cinema club.

Taylor swift. These days more famous for her ex's then her music. Even though her music is selling extremely well and the album RED is well written, heartfelt and properly sold so well due to her writing songs directly about her ex's to which the whole public know who she is speaking about. However the songs are good. i have been listening to The last time with Gary Lightbody, he has an amazing second name, who is the main singer in snow patrol.
The last time - Taylor swift ( Feat. Gary Lightbody)

Duet- Everything Everything
I was write to be excited about the album Arc which is released today as listening to it shows really quality and a lot more progression than there last album. This band is playing in brick lane Rough trade east at 7 pm tomorrow if you go today and buy the album you get free entry.

The rising star that is Jessie Ware. Who i saw at this years radio 1 hackney weekend, I would definitely recommend going to see her, is going to round up my 5 songs of the week with her song sweet talk.

songs of 2012

I forgot to to do my favourite songs of 2012. Brains all damaged from new year and starting uni again.
I've had major problems deciding what goes where and what to include but these are my top five.
5. The incredible florence and the machine with never let me go. A truly haunting song with her stunning vocals being a perfect complement to the song.

4. too close- Alex Clare. This song made popular by the Microsoft advert is majorly catchy with dubstep influences and the quirky voice of alex clare is never lost in the sounds behind.

3. 212- Azealia Banks- with Attitude and a spunk thats well shown in her feuds with angel haze and Perez hilton and others. She still produced a major hit with 212 and her other outings have shown huge promise. What i love about this song is that it sums up Azealia and is a major tune. Even though it was released in 2011 it was released late and i haven't stopped playing it since.

2. My blood - Ellie Goulding. Emotion. Ellie voice is pure gold. In this as she sings about a broken relation one would assume about her relation with Dj Greg James.
1.Rudimental- feel the love.  just listen to it below.
.

primark - love/hate relationship

Yesterday was my first time actually looking around Primark, like down all the aisles, Ever. I normally enter. See stuff i think looks cheap and common. Get the mentality that nothing is going to be to my taste so i leave. Then i travelled to Westfield in stratford city. Which is properly one of the nicest layouts to Primark apart, from the new oxford street store ( near Tottenham court road) , which i have ever been in. Surprising i found Clothes i actually liked. Was it a miracle? Was i just in such a bad mood that any clothes looked good. Well on review i actually really like what i bought yesterday. Pictures below. While Three of the tops have skulls on them and are similar in that sense for the price it didn't bother me. For the overall price and how much i actually LIKE these clothes i will try to be less judgemental and learn to browse through Primark from now on. Hidden gems can be found anywhere.
Primark - 12 pound
Primark - 5 pound

primark - 8 pound
primark - 10 pound
I also bought socks cause i ran out and didn't want to do washing they were 2 pound. :P
Also i found this song that i couldn't wait till songs of the week to upload. It's a remix to Stay awake by Ellie Goulding which is found normally on her album Halycon but the Tesco version only.

Travelling

Hey
So its that time of year when January sales mean holiday sales. This is properly the best time to book a holiday unless you don't mind booking really late but even then they can sometimes it can be expensive. My friends were talking of going to Malia, a clubbing holiday. Two years ago now we all went to Kavos for our summer getaway and while i loved it, personally I don't want to go back on a clubbing holiday that's not a big clubbing destination like ibiza, Magaluf or ayia napa. What i found in Kavos was that the Alcohol wasn't good stuff. The place it self was miserable and grotty. The beach was more of a condom dump and i didn't enter the water just in case of floating condoms and accidentally tasting the salty sea. However the bigger clubbing destinations there more clean and some have amazing beaches nearby But even then I'm not really sure if i want to go there as drinking for 7 days is hard work and you need a holiday to recover. I feel old saying that. At the end of my university year, this year, i will no longer be in education. This for me is so exciting and i can't wait to finally start a "normal" life. Before I came to university I went on holiday to Florida. Some pictures below. This for me was the best holiday I have ever been on and I've been on one or two holidays a year so I've been around. I'm looking to go travelling around America at the end of the year and have money saved but the Organisation of it seems so exciting and complex in that America is so big with so much to do I have no idea where to start. Over the next few weeks i will be looking into a few places and i will post what i find.

new albums- January 2013

Milo Greene - Milo Greene
These California formed indie/folk band are releasing there self title debut album in the UK on the 21st of January but in America its been released since July. Some of the songs have been used in TV shows such as supernatural.  The album is something I'm looking forward to the songs are rich in quality and the singers have interesting voices which are easy to listen to. Plus the cover art is cool. Also UK viewers a song off there album is free on iTunes as there single of the week.

A$AP Rocky- Long. live.A$AP
This album released by American rapper A$AP Rocky is his first since his critically acclaimed mixtape LiveLoveA$AP. You may know him from the national anthem video released by Lana Del Rey      (in my music of 2012 post) and he also recorded a song with her as well. From the songs I've heard off this album I think fucking problems stands out but I'm excited to her the rest. If you go on his Soundcloud he's put three songs up and fucking problems can be bought.  With A$AP having huge potential and features from Pharrell, Drake and Florence Welch. This Album will be big.

Everything Everything - Arc
Searching through iTunes pre-order chart and saw this started to listen and it caught my ear. I've never heard of this band but it's there second album, the first being man alive. Listening to some of the preview of the songs there is some different sounds from slow kinda ballads to rather dance indie music and stuff in between but this album is something I'm really looking forward to. 14 January is when its released.

Songs of the week- 07.01.2013

I will post every monday songs, old and new that this week I will be listening to a lot properly. At the moment there is a serious lack of new releases which does bug me. Its always around christmas that no new music comes out and for me I need constant new music.
So here are a few songs that i'm listening to

  • one republic - secrets .

I remember hearing this song about 3 years ago but only really discovered it when watch a film called the sorcerous apprentices. Which is a cheesy disney film with Nicholas Cage in it.

  • Laura Mvula - Like the morning dew

This i received from iTunes for single of the week. Thanks Apple its been weeks since we had a good free song and this demonstrates the voice of Laura Mvula who will have a big 2013. Listen to her song diamonds at iTunes festival its a beautiful song and she has such soul when she sings it.

  • example - All my lows

We got my best friends tickets for her 21st to see him in cardiff. She asked me to go with her so i though i better listen to his new album and this song for me is one of the best. Its a lot more mixed this album its not all electro and dub step but its still as good.

  • Washed out - Amor fati

I have no idea how i fell onto this song but its such a good chillout song.

Topman winter 2013

London collections : Men
Topman autumn winter 2013- 2014
I love this jumper. It's colour are so neutral and could easily be worn with a number of different bottoms. This with dark jeans and dark red mahogany shoes. This years topman collection is all about pastel colours and white. With bright colours such as the extreme orange being a huge presence in my mind, this is a change from the dark earth tones in winter which is depressing and i also love the cool attachments to the bag which are very nautical which has been in trend since 2010. However the harem like pants are a unsure from me.

Project X

This film pretty much is what every adult think happens when they leave there 17 year old in the house for the night. In reality nothing this bad happens. Imagine Superbad (but that film was enjoyable) without the middle bit or any characters that are likeable. At all. Just skip to the end at the house party. This house party although is crazy. Theres drugs, drink, naked girls in the pool and three losers who think this will turn around there whole loser tag. What starts out as a party that could easily happen turns into something unreal with the filmmaker just throwing in stuff to make it more stupid. There is no real plot other than to see how bad the party gets. Why the main character is friends with his friends is a mystery to me, some of his actions are extremely stupid and not plausible. Then just to top it off the police and the drug dealer with the flamethrower. I have one question.  Why? Surely the drug dealer would have a gun.  The fathers reaction is none existencing. So basically his house, his work and his car being destroyed would make him react in a more violent way.i mean i'm not asking for the father to beat the crap into the son but surely he would have shouted. Then to top it off the son basically says he doesn't care. Let down. three out of ten

music of 2013- part 3

Albums to avoid.

Rita Ora - ORA

This album made me feel sad. A whole 3 years since being signed to Roc Nation i though it would be so much better and the two singles R.I.P and Party and Bullshit were i though good indications that we were on course for a huge star just as big as Rihanna maybe. Even though party and bullshit was quite generic, a part of the huge band of songs to be released encouraging youngster like me to party and drink more, it was one of the better songs and R.I.P was i though her genre. But these two songs and another Sia written club song were the ONLY good songs on the album the other songs were frankly too boring, the production was terrible(will.I.am), or generally was a cast off Rihanna song like 5 years ago (good girl gone bad era). Basically if your thinking of buying ORA buy Rihanna's album unapologetic you will like it more, its more experimental and has everything on it. Rita go back to drake and ask him to write more songs like RIP for you.

Ladyhawke- anxiety

This pains me to write, but this was not a second album that i wanted to hear. This is like Duffy's endlessly its boring nothing pops out and it seems that her anxiety about her second album may have taken over much more as it seems very safe and frankly after her 1st album this is shit. The songs seem quiet and maybe not as pop but more processed and refined which isn't ladyhawke.

Nicki Minaj - pink Friday... Roman reloaded .

Rapper. Singer. Judge? This album for me was in two parts. The rap half and the pop part. The pop part was bad. Marylin Monroe, stupid hoe and beautiful sinner were a few words chucked together and lets hope something good comes out of it. In Stupid hoe's case, a blunt stab at lil Kim, which after listening to made me think that maybe Nicki was looking in a mirror. If she though that would please my ears. But the rap half was for me what i wanted from her Nicki Minaj rapping its why i bought pink Friday and i hoped that the whole album would be like this. But after gathering chart success with her club bangers i doubt Nicki will ever go back to a full rap album as its easy to get a chart topper with a dance track a the moment. However Champion is a song that needs recognition as its features and her heart on it show that this is what Nicki should be doing.  After watching the E special i was taken back. It showed the amazing ego and the aftermath of that row with the Queen of Diva Mariah Carey. All i could think of was that we lost another amazing artist to money and ego.

These three albums for me stood out the most as disappointments. TTFN

reality tv

Know i know this is quite snobby and dickhead like but god i hate reality TV. I mean i can deal with the ten minutes of I'm a celeb when they actually do the trial as seeing people totally shitting themselves when you know they can't be harmed in any way is quite hilarious . But to watch an hour of big brother which when i was like 14-15 i use to do makes me want to go back in time and slap myself and then tell my fat arse to go running or do push ups. These "Celebrities" are hungry for money as you can tell by Heidi and Spencer being in there two people who have craved for fame since they were in diapers. BTW anyone who wants to torture someone for about 50 minutes get Heidi's album its called Superficial and is beyond torture actually think water boarding with vodka. So basically watch the ten minutes when these "celebrities" are being humiliated and then turn over and watch something worth watching like boardwalk empire or Fringe ( which is kinda sci-fi turn thriller turn cop drama).

music of 2012- part 2

Other artist who impressed me this year were Aiden Grimshaw, Misty eye,  he was on x factor so i was extremely surprised at how not mainstream but still pop he was and that he didn't try to jump on the kings of Leon/ killers route and he wrote all off own songs.
favourite song off the misty eye album =
Even though the album didn't sell that well, I have hope that he will do another album as critics generally liked it and so they should as it was a enjoyable album.

Keane - Hopes and fears has to be one of my favourite albums of all time but recently there last album perfect symmetry was a disappointment for me just because of how much i loved there previous two albums. I hoped that Strangeland would be a return to form with the song writing and piano led songs being a huge force on this album what i got was the first three songs being for me, amazing. The chorus were amazing and really catchy but the rest of the album was forgettable. Nothing stood out or if i listened to it which i tried to make myself do it turned into me being bored around 1 minute into the song and turning over.
favourite song from Strangeland- disconnected.

P!nk for me this year showed that she is a true idol of music with 5 albums and a greatest hits album out she produced for me her greatest album in The truth about love. It has so much spunk and shows that even from cant take me home she still has the fiery personality  and amazing songwriting skills which when combine bring a song to life. She should be who young artist's look up to as she has true staying power, an amazing voice and is one amazing performer . I was gutted not to be able to see her preform at the itunes festival but can only hope my friends have brought me the tickets to her show for my birthday. cheeky request there.
favourite song off The truth about love- Walk of shame

music of 2012

Music of 2012 for me was very hit and miss.  New albums from first time artist that i loved this year were Lana Del Rey's born to die: paradise edition,  frank ocean's channel orange. These two albums for me seem to be a huge throwback to American culture with Lana Del Rey album being very influenced by old Hollywood with drama and loss being a huge presence in her music.  Frank's album is very Motown for me but i like that. not growing up in that era or listening to it as a child i found it extremely exciting.
Favourite song of born to die: paradise edition= national anthem

favourite song of channel orange= super rich kids
